The Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Right Human Relations
By Iris Spellings
Understand that everything is held together by the Magnet of Cosmos! Thought attracts a corresponding action. A benevolent inception attracts a corresponding solution. And the awaited victory is destined for the spirit, which strives to the current of cosmic magnetism.1

The Law of Synthesis is the law of spiritual existence, or the Law of Life. Synthesis IS, we're told, but unity must be created. In order to perceive this fundamental principle of Oneness, it is necessary, therefore, to go beyond the body and rational thinking to employ the imagination and tap the intuition. Our imagination, we can agree, is insufficiently developed; most of us do not have the habit of cultivating the imagination and inspiration. How often are we able to imagine causes and effects? How well do we understand our responsibility in contributing to the state of the world today?

As thought has contributed to the present state of affairs in the world today, equally so, we can use our thought to pave the way, shaping the world as we'd like it to be. It is thought which precedes energy, as in the familiar axiom "energy follows thought", thus the immense value of meditation and radiating the power of love and goodwill throughout the planet.

The Ageless Wisdom refers to the New Group of World Servers—those spiritually oriented men and women who can act as a bridge between spirit and matter. They know how to use the power of thought to picture the most beautiful possibilities, but they also know how to manifest them by clothing them in matter. They are working to facilitate the entry of new ideals and aims characteristic of the New Age into the consciousness of the race in order to hasten the process of evolutionary development on our planet. Changing the present situation is a Herculean task, yet not impossible. Required is the focused effort of all spiritual and dedicated servers to work out the Plan of the Hierarchy of Loving Masters of the Wisdom, the so-called inner government of the world. The practice of "Right Human Relations" or human rights is inherent in this Plan of Love and Light.

Human rights, in general, are defined as those rights, which are inherent in our nature and without which we cannot live as human beings. They're based on humanity's growing demand for a life in which the inherent dignity and worth of each human being is accorded respect and protection. Their denial, aside from being an individual and personal tragedy, also creates conditions of social and political unrest, spreading the seeds of violence and conflict within and between societies and nations.

As early as the 1945 San Francisco Conference held to draft the Charter of the United Nations, a proposal to embody a "Declaration on the Essential Rights of Man" was put forward, but it was shelved because it required more detailed consideration than was possible at the time. Having submitted other drafts in the two succeeding years, it was not until December 10th 1948, three years after the UN was founded that the General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This declaration, an example of the synthetic work of members of the New Group of World Servers, is said to have marked mankind's arrival at a vitally important phase: "the conscious acquisition of human dignity and worth."

The Declaration consists of a preamble and 30 articles, which sets forth the human rights and fundamental freedoms to which all men and women, the world over, are entitled, without any discrimination. Article 1, provides the context and embodies the philosophy on which all the other articles are based. It reads:

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.

How do we achieve human rights for all? Guaranteeing the practice of human rights requires an understanding of the concept of right human relations—the hallmark of the New Group of World Servers. Right human relations are based on goodwill, or "love in action." It is the energy of Love, plus Will. Most simply put: treat others as you would want to be treated—the golden rule—an idea that is endorsed by all the great world religions and for many centuries influential among people of very diverse cultures.

Can we imagine what a transformed world we would live in if people of goodwill everywhere, under the influence of the New Group of World Servers, daily practiced right human relations? Can we each take up the banner of responsibility to ensure that we strive towards this possibility?
